Skipper serves as the captain of the group, giving orders with ease and command. Kowalski is Skipper's second-in-command and a dutiful one at that. Rico is the brute of the group and can karate chop anything in sight. Private's primary job in the group is to maintain the cute and fuzzy disguise. Cast these four primary roles with performers who work well together. This is a fun opportunity to cast your youngest performers. Gender: Both The Zookeepers The Zookeepers introduce the crowds to all the sights and attractions of the Central Park Zoo. Zookeeper Zelda, Zookeeper Zeke and Zookeeper Zoe are perfect parts for proficient musicians and actors who can express a real excitement and passion for the animals. Zelda has a large solo in the opening, so cast your best singer amongst the Zookeepers in that role. King Julien is their leader and the perfect part for the comedian of your company who can sing, dance, act and has intuitive comedic timing. Maurice is King Julien's assistant who is not so welcoming to Madagascar's new inhabitants. This part is perfect for an actor who can convey distrust and disinterest while still being a powerful second-in-command to King Julien. Mort is the littlest of the Lemurs, who can barely speak. Find a young, small, sweet performer who possesses a sense of comedy. Lynn, Lew, Lee and Lars are fun smaller roles for young actors with bold personalities. The Fossa Leader is the biggest and baddest of the Fossa and is feared by most of the creatures in Madagascar. For the rest of Fossa, choose an ensemble that can create a dominating pack of predators. Gender: May be cast male or female (using the name Jenny Harmon) Vocal Range: E4-Eb5 Jessica Crenshaw Faded Hollywood star, a grand diva with no right to be one, and a plague to the show-with-the-show and to her cast. Must be skillful enough to sing hilariously out-of-tune and ineptly, and adroit enough to dance perfectly out of step with the rest of the cast. Lloyd Larson | Hal Leonard Lloyd Larson For over 30 years, Lloyd Larson has been an active composer and arranger for several major publishing companies of church and school music. His music compositions and arrangements number well over 1,300 published works–including choral anthems, numerous extended Christmas and Easter works, keyboard collections, vocal solo and duet collections, instrumental solo and ensemble publications, orchestrations and handbell settings. It is his work in the local church, though, which continues to be the catalyst for much of his writing. He is an active participant in his own church where he currently directs the adult choir in addition to regularly being involved in worship planning and leadership. He has been involved in church music ministry for over 35 years, serving churches in Indiana, Ohio and Minnesota. Originally from central Illinois, Lloyd received a B.A. in music from Anderson University (IN) and a Master’s degree in church music and composition from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (KY). He has done subsequent graduate work at Southern Baptist Seminary, Ohio State University and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (IL). Lloyd is married to his college sweetheart, Marci. They have three children – Stephanie (married to Brandt), Philip (married to Kylee), and Jeff (married to Erika) – along with four grandchildren: Addie, Eli, Izzy and Oliver.
